Hanuesol Building

Hanuesol Building

Existing buildings lined along the full-width road connecting Yonsei University and Geumhwa Tunnel reveals regular, unified widths and heights as a common denominator, which manifests and expresses itself as the street’s rhythm. The site’s two existing buildings similarly demonstrate an appropriate street scale.

To extend this street rhythm continuously on the 100m-long site, the building mass is articulated into six parts: A (mass), B (receded landscaping structure), C and D (existing buildings), E (receded building), F (mass similar to A). A and F, positioned at the site’s ends, utilize a “solid” concept for symmetrical exteriors with differing details. B and E employ a “void” concept, treated as landscaping facilities and building columns
