The renovation project of the Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Gwanghwamun building has a goal to improve the outdated office environment and refresh the corporate image. Completed originally in 1976, the building’s existing brown tones contrast with newly used granite and glass to achieve a modern appearance. The vertical columns surrounding the facade create a simple yet powerful rhythm and proportionality. The design intentionally maintains an intentional simpleness compared to nearby landmarks such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and Gwanghwamun Square, adjacent hotels, and office buildings, aiming to realize a refined skyscraper identity.
