Korea Flour Mills Plant

Korea Flour Mills Co., Ltd. Plant

After continuing for over 40 years at the Mokpo plant established in 1967, Korea Flour Mills (now Sajo Dongawon) was to relocate itself to the newly constructed Dangjin Plant in 2009 on a 55,058 sq. m. site within the Dangjin-gun industrial complex. This project was to present an image identity based on the flow of nature and the corporate spirit of Korea Flour Mills — namely, “人 (in, meaning person)” — as the fundamental motif.

The goal was to express architectural space according to three elements — “humanity,” “environment,” and “future” — to realize an image resembling a research institute that considers human health and the environment rather than a factory producing harmful substances; to create a work environment for employee health and productivity improvement along with interior and exterior exhibition spaces and rest areas; and to establish a clean space for milling white wheat purely. For Junglim Architecture, this project was meaningful in that it solidified the firm’s flour mill design expertise as its third flour mill project following CJ Yangsan and Daesun Flour Mills.
