Cheonggyecheon Museum

Cheonggyecheon Museum

The Cheonggyecheon Museum is a complex cultural space designed with the flow of water and the movement of visitors as its main design elements, exhibiting the history, culture, and future of Cheonggyecheon Stream. It creates a dynamic atmosphere by embodying the meandering flow of water and allows visitors to experience Junglim’s style of interacting with the surrounding environment on a smaller scale. The narrow and elongated exhibition space uses ramps to provide exhibition space while establishing a dynamic and public character. The flowing-water-like forms and spatial arrangements, the intersection of different spatial characters, and spaces that meet nature and extend outward trigger visitors’ diverse experiences. The rooftop observatory reached by ascending the ramp acts as a ventilation device reminiscent of the now-demolished Cheonggye Elevated Highway and offers an opportunity to enjoy urban nature, including Mt. Namsan and Cheonggyecheon Stream.
