Recently, many large distributors have been competitively building outlet malls, and this has been the recent trend in commercial facilities. Depending on the operating area, outlet malls can be divided into premium outlet malls and general outlet malls. While Lotte Outlet Buyeo, which opened in 2013, is a typical suburban outlet mall, Lotte Premium Outlet Gwangmyeong is a typical urban outlet mall. In terms of size, it is a large outlet mall with a gross floor area of approx. 132,000 square meters (fourty thousand pyeong). Located in the subway station area in Gwangmyeong, which has recently been in the spotlight with the opening of the first IKEA store in South Korea, the project site provides easy access in the Seoul metropolitan area. As the project was planned from the beginning to have a strategic agreement with IKEA to be built in the same site, there were many issues to be resolved, including mutually connected planning for traffic lines, parking and access. We expect that the efforts we have made at a breakneck pace in cooperation with the construction site since December 2013 will result in something that can satisfy users of the building.
