Jooyoung Common Department Store pursues a one-stop complex town retail facility introducing the “town” concept to an American-style shopping mall. This shifts away from product-centered shopping in simple retail spaces, adopting as its development motto a lifestyle town where all social classes can enjoy culture, rest, sports, and purchases in one place throughout the day on a “one-stop” basis. It fulfills the client’s vision for a customer-centered shopping culture space filled with leisure, relaxation, and enjoyment.
Considering the surrounding conditions of the delapidated existing industrial complex, the architectural form emphasizes fresh, crisp shapes, materials, and color schemes, with bright exterior walls featuring expansive glass surfaces and decorative elements conveying openness, leisure, and invitation. It later operated as E-Mart Galsan Branch before closing.
