Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance HIVISION CENTER

Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Hivision Center project involved demolishing the old, outdated training facility and constructing a new one focused on education. Respecting the outstanding natural environment of Gonjiam, the design avoided exaggerated forms and lavish interiors, aiming instead to capture both the surrounding forest and the spirit of the training center itself. The layout, which seems to embrace the forest, allows trainees to directly experience nature through generous views of the natural surroundings.

Inside, courtyards are placed between classrooms to provide daylighting and ventilation, creating a pleasant learning environment. Corridors and the lobby are planned to adjoin the courtyard so that the interior appears more spacious. To block underground humidity at its source, corridor-form dry areas (DAs) were installed along all basement exterior walls. Although the site originally had a 15-meter level difference, this condition was treated as a defining feature and effectively utilized for zoning diverse programs required in a training facility — such as a cafeteria, auditorium, gymnasium, and accommodations.
