Osong Clinical Trial Center in Chungbuk National University Hospital

Osong Clinical Trial Center in Chungbuk National University Hospital

The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the critical importance of clinical trials in developing new vaccines and drugs. At the government level, there was a goal to become the world’s fifth-largest clinical trial powerhouse by establishing world-class medical R&D infrastructure and building core research facilities and support systems to foster the health industry as a new growth engine. The Osong Clinical Trial Center, located within the Osong High-tech Medical Complex, is an eco-friendly specialized clinical trial center that provides one-stop services for all stages of early clinical trials, supporting the smooth development of new drugs and medical devices by core research organizations and resident companies within the complex.

The first floor houses international conference rooms and various administrative support facilities, facilitating convenient use by both internal and external users of the center. The second floor contains all clinical trial-related facilities, with clear separation of traffic flow between subjects and medical staff, and ample rest areas for trial subjects to optimize the clinical trial process. The third floor includes research support facilities such as drug analysis labs, monitoring rooms, research offices, and educational labs, accompanied by a rooftop garden to provide chances of relaxation for researchers and medical personnel. Photovoltaic (PV) panels installed on the roof serve both functional and aesthetic purposes as a design element.
