The design of the Christian Broadcasting headquarters is situated in the heart of the central district within the Mok-dong redevelopment area. Rather than focusing on the sculptural qualities of the site itself, the design emphasizes urban form in relation to the streetscape and urban context of the central district, as well as the building’s role as a landmark.
Since most of the surrounding apartment buildings are constructed of concrete, it was deemed necessary to achieve harmony with the surrounding environment while also introducing open, dynamic forms and creating a sense of urban scale and ventilation. To meet these external requirements, the design attempts to separate the single mass, thereby embodying the Christian Broadcasting Station’s symbolic image (representing the relationship between God and humanity) while expanding the sense of openness toward the surrounding streets and fostering a human-scale approach.
