Byzantium Empire State Project

Byzantium Empire State Project

The design competition proposal for the Byzantium Empire State Apartment was planned to have 82 stories, making it the tallest residential building in South Korea. This height is the result of the designer’s sales strategy to overcome the site’s lower profile compared to Songdo and Cheongna. It is also a choice made to maximize views of the nearby Incheon coastline. The project reinterprets the paradigm of super-tall residential architecture. By harmoniously integrating the city, culture, residential spaces, and commercial areas, it establishes the identity of the Songnim district in Incheon. Furthermore, by building infrastructure with surrounding cities, it facilitates the dynamic population influx characteristic of Incheon. The two towers will serve as landmarks for the Songnim district while also providing the foundation for infrastructure expansion into neighboring communities.
