The Opening of Incheon Airport’s Second Terminal: A New Takeoff for South Korea

On Friday, November 29, the “Incheon Airport Phase 4 Grand Opening” was held on the 3rd floor of the west wing of Incheon International Airport’s Terminal 2.
Held under the theme “Incheon Airport’s Second Opening: A New Takeoff for Korea,” the event was attended by approximately 800 officials, including Park Sang-woo, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport; Yoo Jeong-bok, Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City; and Lee Hak-jae, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation.
The Incheon Airport Phase 4 project involved the expansion of Terminal 2, including the construction of a fourth runway and 75 new parking bays, enabling the airport to join the ranks of global mega-hub airports capable of handling over 100 million passengers annually. JUNGLIM Architecture, as part of a consortium with Samoo Architects and two other firms, successfully executed the project by overseeing the exterior and structural components of this initiative, which has been underway since 2017. CEO Myungjin Lee, Jonghyo Lee (TL) of the Smart Office Business Unit, and Changhee Kang of the Mobility Business Unit attended the event to celebrate this new chapter for Incheon International Airport.
