The site faces a government office building across the front road and borders a small stream and a pedestrian-only path at the rear, creating two completely contrasting environments. To overcome the limitations of a commercial facility while embracing this duality, we began exploring ways to move beyond the typical volumetric mass of a collection of individual units and create an engaging circulation experience for visitors.
The building is divided into two masses, forming a central courtyard. The front facade features a rhythmic, linear design to harmonize with the continuous flow of government office buildings in the administrative complex. Meanwhile, the rear facade incorporates stepped variations along its long mass to create a dynamic appearance, enhancing the dramatic spatial experience of the waterfront area where the stream and pedestrian-only road converge.
