Taepyeong 4-dong Administrative Welfare Center

Taepyeong 4-dong Administrative Welfare Center

The Taepyeong 4-dong Administrative and Welfare Center was conceived with the dual challenges of overcoming the site’s sloping terrain and efficiently arranging five distinct programs. The project’s planning focused on how to effectively integrate these elements.
Specifically, the circulation patterns for the diverse programs were resolved through the use of the sloping terrain, while the lack of horizontal space inherent in the sloping site conditions was addressed by utilizing the voids created by the stacking of the programs. Consequently, the project’s goal was to create a multi-purpose cultural center featuring numerous, expansive flat areas (courtyards) that are appropriate for the functional context (circulation, levels, programs), which in turn led to the realization of the site’s unique sense of place.
