The Wonju Regional Complex is significant as the first building constructed under a public-private partnership development project.
To accommodate the relocation of four administrative agencies in the Wonju region (the Wonju Regional Land Management Office, the Wonju Branch of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service, the Wonju Customs Office, and the Wonju Office of Statistics Korea) and to move beyond the conventional concept of a government-only complex, the building was designed as a mixed-use complex where the private and public sectors coexist by incorporating privately leased facilities.
