Dongtan emart Traders

Dongtan emart Traders

Emart Traders in Dongtan 2 New Town, situated at a major regional transportation hub facing Dongtan Station and the Gyeongbu Expressway, was designed with a friendly character in mind, reflecting its role as a connector between the commercial district and surrounding residential areas.

Taking into account views from the expressway, vertical louvers were applied to the voids of the above‑ground parking to create a rhythmic façade, while emphasizing each corner of the pentagonal mass to enhance recognizability from key intersections. Responding to a site surrounded by multifamily housing, food-and-beverage stores and a cultural center were placed for easy access by nearby residents, establishing a local community venue, and public open spaces were linked by a promenade laid out along the Osancheon Stream that runs in front of the site to create a variety of outdoor spaces. Meanwhile, by incorporating a range of eco-friendly features and obtaining green building certification, the project is expected to set a new benchmark for sustainable retail facilities.
