On Thursday, May 8, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for “LG Electronics’ Third Plant in India” at the Sri City Industrial Park in Andhra Pradesh, near Chennai, India.
This third plant in India is LG Electronics’ third facility in the country, following those in Noida (Plant 1) and Pune (Plant 2). Phase 1 of the project, which covers half of the total 1 million square meters master plan, will include two production buildings, one warehouse, and ancillary facilities. This is the largest single new construction project in LG Electronics’ history and is planned to serve as a production hub for white goods in southern India and neighboring countries.
JUNGLIM Architecture expects that, following its participation in the design of LG Electronics’ P4 Building in Haiphong, Vietnam, this second overseas factory design project will further solidify its foundation for involvement in the design of LG Electronics’ Phase 2 site and global production facilities.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by LG Electronics President Ryu Jae-cheol, Head of the HS (Home Appliance Solution) Division; Executive Vice President Lee Jae-sung, Head of the ES (Eco Solution) Division; and Executive Vice President Jeon Hong-ju, Head of LG Electronics India, as well as the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India, the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Chennai, the Honorary Consul in Hyderabad, the Minister of Human Resource Development of Andhra Pradesh, the Minister of Finance, and the Minister of Industry. Representing JUNGLIM Architecture were Myungjin Lee, Head of the Advanced Design Division; Jaewoo Kim of the High-Tech BL; Jeong-gyu Park , Head of the India Branch; and Seungryeol Ryu(TL) of the High-Tech BU.
