At the time of its construction, this project was the largest residential complex in Geomdan New Town and the first winning entry by Junglim Architecture’s Housing Division in a nominated design competition commissioned by a major construction company. The key design challenge was to propose an optimal layout for approximately 1,550 units on a triangular site, harmoniously arranging 16 residential blocks while ensuring open views and a visual axis.
Following the northwest-facing view toward Geumjeong Mountain, a main visual axis was established through the center of the site. The residential blocks were arranged to the east and west of this axis, with those on the east side slightly angled to create semi-enclosed green spaces while their side façades help buffer traffic noise from the adjacent main road. Ancillary facilities such as a daycare center, senior welfare center, and community spaces are grouped along the green axis in a cluster-like composition inspired by grape bunches, unified under consistent design guidelines. The teal color used as the primary façade tone later evolved into the official brand color “British Green” for the Prugio brand.
