The National Museum Complex was intended from the master planning stage to connect culture and nature within Sejong City’s urban core, designed so the entire complex can be experienced as a single museum. The master plan, called “Sejong Museum Gardens,” envisions an encompassing corridor linking all buildings, allowing each to maintain its unique identity while being connected. It also enables fluid movement between the architecture and landscape integrated through a flexible structural grid.
The National Children’s Museum and Integrated Operation Support Center are the first buildings constructed in the complex, located at the forefront, serving as the starting point for visitors. The flexible exhibition spaces, designed as play and learning areas, harmonize with nature, where children are encouraged to experience and grow with an awareness of the urban and natural value. The Integrated Operation Support Center operates and manages the complex, providing visitor orientation, ticketing, and amenities. It is designed to harmonize with other museums while also serving as a landmark, like a lighthouse within the complex.
