The new baseball stadium to be built in Changwon should be rooted in the region’s historical identity, the revitalization of the old downtown area, the reuse of existing structures, and the sharing of past memories and nostalgia. From a historical perspective, the project to construct the new stadium must go beyond simply creating a functional venue for a single professional baseball team. It should foster a shared memory of the Masan Sports Complex, which has stood on that site for 30 years, and this attitude toward preservation should serve as the starting point for the preservation and utilization of architectural heritage in the unified city of Changwon. Furthermore, the existing sports complex structures should not only serve as a place to share memories but also be highly functional, transforming the venue into a space that offers various uses (such as a rest area, park, or playground) to Changwon citizens even on days when no baseball games are being held.
