Achieving the Highest Value with the Lowest Cost

The earlier input of CM in the project saves the total project cost more effectively. For a construction project, more than 80% of its content and cost are determined in its planning to design phases. Therefore, how to do CM of the project in the early phase can make huge difference of the total cost. Value Engineering (VE) is defined as a “systematic endeavor invested in the functional analysis and design to achieve the best value with the optimal life cycle cost.”
In construction management, it can be described as a way to find a technical alternative for cost-saving and quality improvement. VE may be implemented in all the process of a construction project from design to construction, but when it is carried out in the design phase, it can have more influence on all elements such as project cost, the term of works, and construction techniques.
