A new railway station will be built in the Kourifa district to serve international routes connecting Tunisia and Morocco. The goal was to build a new economic and transportation hub for the Algerian capital by connecting the nearby Houari Boumediene Airport and Baraki Stadium. The plan includes a central station, a hotel with over 300 rooms, and a mixed-use commercial complex. The design modernizes architectural elements such as courtyards and arches while incorporating traditional Algerian patterns. This project was an international design competition. Commissioned by the Algerian Railway Investment Agency, three firms were selected from 15 consortia worldwide during the initial pre-qualification (PQ) review, and design proposals were subsequently submitted by the selected consortia.
