The Graduate School of Korean Medicine and its affiliated Korean medicine hospital, currently under construction in Yangsan, Gyeongsangnam-do, are being built within the Pusan National University Medical Complex in Yangsan, following the main hospital and children’s hospital designed by JUNGLIM. This project holds significance as the first-of-its-kind graduate school of Korean medicine and affiliated Korean medicine hospital in the country.
In the overall master plan and growth strategy for the medical complex, we proposed a specialized medical complex linked to the university’s main hospital, thereby outlining a development direction for the site that would prevent future unplanned development. Furthermore, respecting the overall master plan of the Yangsan Pusan National University Medical Complex, we ensured that elements such as the “Path of Life” and the central green corridor connect with or extend into the courtyards and forecourts of the planned buildings, creating a continuous spatial flow rather than a fragmented one. As Korea’s first graduate school of Korean medicine and affiliated hospital, the project aims to standardize and scientifize Korean medicine, establish a paradigm for talent development, and ultimately globalize Korean medicine. Accordingly, the slogan for this plan was defined as “Korean Medicine Frontier.”
