The Myanmar Institute of Development Studies (MIDS) is a think tank that plays a pivotal role in the nation’s development as a policy research institution supporting the government’s economic and social development policy decisions. The site is located on a vast plain in Naypyidaw, Myanmar’s administrative capital. The site features an elevation difference of more than 8 meters between its highest and lowest points, with only a very small portion at or above street level. Given the limited construction budget, the programs were densely arranged, but buffer zones were incorporated between them to ensure spatial independence. The design was conceived to showcase Myanmar’s strength as it steadily prepares for the future.
