Located in Cheongwon County, North Chungcheong Province, Korea National University of Education opened in March 1985. Although its history is relatively short, it plays a vital role in training teachers, who are the key players in the field of education. The new Education Museum project, with a total floor area of approximately 2,400 pyeong (about 7,920 square meters) and comprising one basement level and four above-ground floors, was conceived with a deep respect for nature and the site’s topography.
The goal was to maintain the museum’s functionality and dignity while imbuing it with new value. In particular, by proposing the “Street of Education,” we sought to revive and maximize the value of the land and the significance of the architecture. Here, there are trees and the breeze. There is teaching and learning. There is music and poetry. There are seating areas (stairs) where one can read books, engage in conversation, or watch performances. A street where pleasant spaces, culture, and education harmoniously blend—this is the Education Museum we propose.
