The construction of the Talent Hall was undertaken to address the shortage of academic buildings resulting from the incomplete implementation of the master plan devised during the 1999 campus relocation, as well as to establish a separate and independent university administration building. It holds significant value as the first step signaling a new beginning for Mokwon University, which, through the slogan of MVP2013, aspires to establish itself as a prestigious regional university and embark on a second founding. Changes in the surrounding environment resulting from the development plan for the southwestern part of Daejeon have created a need for Mokwon University to assume a new role within the local community. The site is adjacent to the main pedestrian walkway and occupies a key location on campus, with the Theology Building to the south and the University Chapel to the north. Consequently, establishing the Talent Hall’s distinctive appearance and conferring symbolic significance as the main building amidst surrounding structures—which were constructed with similar exteriors at the time of the campus relocation—was a critical issue. Additionally, overcoming the 8-meter elevation difference within the site and architecturally resolving the zoning of four distinct programs served as another key challenge for the project.
