Korea Exim Bank (The Export-Import Bank of Korea) Headquarters

The two masses are combined asymmetrically to create a characteristic tension, symbolically reflecting the progressive corporate image amid the globalization trends of the 1980s. The visuo-perceptual contrast between granite and glass on the exterior, along with the tension and dynamism from the prominent diagonal mass, connects to the diversity of the interior spatial composition.

The intermediate area linking the two office masses serves as a lobby space spanning three floors, incorporating a mid-level auditorium, meeting rooms and ancillary spaces, as well as upper-level welfare facilities like a rooftop garden and restaurant that provide a sense of stability. This project actively juxtaposes two elements — the image of encountering Yeouido’s large-scale urban dimension unprecedented in Korea at the time, and the autonomy of interior spaces — to focus on realizing dynamic equilibrium.
