Jeju National University Hospital, to be built within a forested conservation area on the outskirts of Jeju City, is a 600-bed general hospital. The site slopes from north to south and is situated in a natural greenbelt area with views of the coastline and Mount Halla in the distance.
The natural surroundings—including the lush forests and verdant foliage—were integrated with the hospital’s healing functions, serving as the core of an eco-friendly design. In this regard, the concept of a “hospital in the forest”—which actively provides opportunities to observe and experience nature—offers a healing space for rest and relaxation, embodying the characteristics of both “Natural Healing” and a “Resort Hospital.” Furthermore, the design incorporates the natural lines of Jeju’s landscape, the “Olle” paths found in traditional Jeju homes, and gentle rooflines to harmonize with the region’s unique characteristics.
