Seoul’s Jamsil Sports Complex hosted two major national events—the 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Olympic Games—and stands as a symbolic site that embodies the public’s aspirations and memories of the Olympics. Since the Olympics, this site has been losing its inherent sense of place and vitality due to a massive main stadium that can only be used at specific times and for specific purposes, aging concrete decks, outdoor spaces primarily used as parking lots, and a fragmented pedestrian environment. We took the restoration of lost memories as the starting point for this plan, grounded in respect for the site’s original identity and sense of place.
