Incheon is emerging as a central hub in Northeast Asia, transcending its role as a key hub for maritime and air transportation. Incheon’s Seo-gu District encompasses a diverse range of urban functions, including residential and commercial areas, export-oriented industrial complexes, reclaimed coastal areas, and emerging urban development zones, necessitating the formulation of a development plan tailored to the district’s evolving characteristics in response to changing times.
The focus of this plan is to infuse urban vitality and functionality into the relatively underdeveloped surrounding environment while harmonizing with the site’s natural landscape. The plan connects the green spaces of Wonjiksan and Hambongsan mountains with the two complexes, Janggo-gae Park, and the South Sports Park. It incorporates a layout plan that considers the views along the 30-meter-wide road and the orientation of the main buildings; a level and three-dimensional landscape plan that adapts to the terrain by utilizing the complex’s elevation differences; a circulation plan designed for convenience; and pedestrian-priority safety measures. We developed plans for street-front retail spaces along the 30-meter-wide road, small-scale community facilities, ancillary welfare facilities linked to nearby schools, and community programs that offer opportunities for relaxation and diverse experiences.
We hope that Incheon Gazwa Residence will serve as the starting point for an eco-friendly, sustainable community and a vibrant city within the urban landscape.
