Incheon Asian Game Main Stadium Gyeyang

Incheon Asian Game Main Stadium Gyeyang

This plan was conceived around the themes of a symbolic exterior embodying the dynamism of sports and the harmony of local residents; an international-standard stadium capable of hosting the Asian Games and various international competitions; a vibrant sports and entertainment venue open 365 days a year; and a green park in the heart of the city where nature thrives. Based on the concepts of “Great Circle,” “Sports in Circle,” “Life in Circle,” and “Culture in Circle,” the design embodies the symbolism of Incheon’s development and its status as a host of international competitions, while being tailored to the specific characteristics of the venue. The complex is arranged around a central plaza to facilitate the entry and exit of large crowds. To ensure the stadium’s sustainable maintenance after the Asian Games, park facilities and public spaces were incorporated into the lower levels of the stadium. The “Rainbow Way”—a large linear path connecting to Yongjong Sports Park where diverse activities take place—embodies a culture that will enhance the quality of life for residents of Gyeyang-gu.
