The Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Bupyeong Office Building, planned for Bupyeong, Incheon, resulted in a narrative tracing the evolution of the company’s office buildings. This was achieved by addressing the fundamental requirements of Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance’s staff while also carefully considering how to interpret the design of the Bupyeong office building.
Starting with the old Gwanghwamun headquarters in 1984, Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance has established eight new office buildings. We began an in-depth analysis focusing on the Gangnam headquarters and the Gwanghwamun headquarters (renovation), which served as suitable precedents for the Bupyeong headquarters. The design was driven by the question, “What is the continuous corporate image of Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance that the Bupyeong office building should embody?” and the justification for using stone—a material frequently employed in existing office buildings—as a key element.
In conclusion, the effort to embody the company’s identity in the building aimed not only to solidify Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance’s corporate image but also to provide users with a pleasant environment by incorporating eco-friendly features. Through this, the Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Bupyeong Headquarters will establish itself as a distinctive landmark building with high visibility and a strong sense of place in the city center.
