Green Cross Headquarter Remodeling, Cell Center, Welfare center

Established in 1967 in Bojeong-dong, Yongin, the headquarters of Green Cross Holdings Co., Ltd. consists of an R&D center, GC Lab, research institutes, and office spaces.
This project involves the construction of the Green Cross Holdings Cell Center on the headquarters grounds and the expansion of welfare facilities, including sports facilities. Following a design competition in 2015, the proposal by Jeonglim Architecture was selected.
Centered on the orthogonal layout of the existing building complex, the design focuses on an outdoor space plan that highlights the characteristics of the natural green area, ensures visibility and recognition from the Gyeongbu Expressway, and incorporates employee welfare spaces. It also imbues the site with a sense of place as a space where nature and people interact. The CGMP must be completely shielded from sunlight and outdoor air. Conversely, the research institute requires an exterior envelope that allows for external views and sunlight control to provide researchers with a comfortable working environment.
The principle of the façade design was to design and reveal the coexistence of two entities—laboratories and production facilities, lightness and heaviness, openness and closure, smoothness and roughness—within a single mass, despite their extreme contrasts.
