The Suwon Yeongtong Gwanggyo E-Mart is located adjacent to the Dongsuwon Tollgate in the Gwanggyo Residential Development District, which serves as the gateway to Suwon.
The long, narrow, irregularly shaped site is surrounded on three sides by buffer green space and borders a road on only one side, making traffic access planning challenging; consequently, a unique E-Mart design was conceived that differs from previous examples.
Reflecting Suwon City’s stance that a standard E-Mart facade would not be permitted on a site adjacent to the city’s gateway, the distinctive facade of the Gwanggyo E-Mart is expected to serve as a catalyst for transforming the uniform facades of E-Mart stores in the future.
