A multiplex art center is planned for the site of the former Daegu MBC Cultural Broadcasting front park. It will feature eight movie theaters, as well as retail and exhibition spaces, and will consist of five underground floors and two above-ground floors.

Building on the public nature of the existing park, a front park will be created that is easily accessible from the surrounding streets. The significance of this park lies in providing Daegu citizens with a green space within the city center and creating a multifunctional outdoor cultural space capable of hosting various cultural activities and events, such as outdoor stage performances related to broadcasting. The following is the preface to the basic design guidelines contained in the competition guidelines.

Daegu MBC intends to construct the Daegu MBC Art Center (tentative name)—a comprehensive cultural and recreational space centered around a multiplex—to serve the local residents who have supported Daegu MBC for the past 41 years and to further strengthen its broadcasting competitiveness in the era of multimedia and multi-channels. The Daegu MBC Art Center must not only embody creative beauty that elevates the standard of local architectural culture by leveraging the unique location of MBC Intersection—a gateway to Daegu and a key transportation hub—but also, functionally, serve as a dignified cultural space brimming with joy that will be cherished by citizens.
Accordingly, Daegu MBC intends to select a contractor for the basic and detailed design services through a competitive bidding process open to reputable and capable firms.
