Chuncheon National Univ. of Education Library

Chuncheon National Univ. of Education Library

The library site is situated on the slopes of a valley within the National University of Education campus in Chuncheon, a lakeside city.

The design plan was developed to actively utilize the valley site, ensuring that the natural scenery viewed from the library creates a dramatic effect while preserving the beautiful valley environment and connecting with the context of the university, where most buildings are brick structures.

By minimizing civil engineering work and adopting a layout that follows the natural contours of the hillside, the design creates a new face for the campus with a façade that reflects the entry axis and an axis facing the open space on the west side. On the east side, the building faces the valley, while on the west side it faces the campus, preserving the existing contrast to create an environment where nature and people interact.
