Busan Millak-dong Hotel

Busan Millak-dong Hotel

Busan’s location and the area known as Gwangalli are imbued with long-standing memories and symbolic significance. The Gwangan Bridge, stretching across the ocean, is a symbol of Busan and opens up a new perspective from which to view the land from the sea. Furthermore, the site’s history as an amusement park is a place where memories of fun and celebration coexist, and it has secured its place in people’s memories as a beloved destination thanks to the Ferris wheel. These memories of the amusement park are linked to the park to the north, adding functions of rest and relaxation to expand the space into a healing environment. This project focuses on the memories and symbolic significance of the site, a landscape embracing the open view of the ocean, and a balance and harmony that respond to the surrounding context. Keywords such as Ocean, Memory, Landmark, Tradition, Festival, and Green are projected into the hotel’s program, creating another identity for Busan.
