The columns and roof—fundamental elements of a legislative building—have been reinterpreted as dynamic, linear forms that convey a sense of speed against the strong directionality of the front street. By exposing the structural and roofing components, the design achieves a collective aesthetic reminiscent of traditional architecture.
The angle of the escalator naturally lends a dynamic quality to the form, while the technical height required for the elevator creates a balanced composition through organic intersections. The Taegeuk pattern reflector, which is also the most direct expression, is a key design element intended to explore new possibilities by actively employing this Eastern motif—often perceived as either an authoritative or kitschy element—through a Pop Art-inspired interpretation.
