South Korea Covered the Costs and Took Full Responsibility for the Design, Construction, and Transfer of Operational Know-How…

In July 2011, plans to build a new national museum—replacing the cramped and dilapidated existing one—with South Korea’s assistance were first discussed.

This plan gradually took shape and was implemented as a KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) cultural aid project, involving an investment of $21 million (approximately 27.8 billion won)—the largest amount ever provided for aid to Africa. South Korea did not merely provide financial support; it also took full responsibility for the design (JUNGLIM Architecture), construction (Hansol EME and Isaac Construction), and the transfer of operational know-how (Sangmyung University).
