On Monday, April 4, an implementation agreement for “Seoul Arena” was signed between the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Kakao in the video conference room at Seoul City Hall. At the signing ceremony—where the project operator of this private investment initiative and the Seoul Metropolitan Government formalized the terms of implementation—JUNGLIM Architecture was represented by CEO Kihan Kim and Jeon Seong-yeol of Design Group 3. They attended alongside Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Kakao Chairman Kim Seong-su, Kakao CEO Namgung Hoon, and other officials. The “Seoul Arena Cultural Complex” will be built on a site of approximately 50,000 square meters near Changdong Station, with a total floor area of approximately 110,000 square meters. Jeongrim Architects is currently designing this K-pop-focused, specialized music performance complex, which will feature Korea’s first arena-class concert hall dedicated to music (approximately 18,000 seats / 28,000 standing seats), a medium-sized performance hall, movie theaters, facilities to support popular music, and retail and office spaces.
