A field trip to a recently completed project organized by ‘Thinking Zone’ and ‘JUNGLIM Architecture’
the first installment of “Dap;Site”, takes place

On Friday, July 19, JUNGLIM Architecture, in collaboration with “Think Zone”—a nonprofit organization composed of students from architecture-related departments in Korea—and with sponsorship from the JUNGLIM Cultural Foundation, held the first session of the completed-project field trip program <Dap;Site> at its inaugural destination, the “Thinking Platform Dangsan.”

Since late last year, “Think Zone” and JUNGLIM Architecture have been preparing and planning “Dap;Site.” The goal behind this initiative was to provide students with an opportunity to gain an understanding of professional practice and indirectly experience the entire design process—including design and construction—through site visits. Additionally, the organizers hoped that through explanations and interactions with senior architects who had directly participated in and led the design process, students aspiring to become architects would broaden their horizons.

For this event, 92 students from architecture-related departments nationwide applied for the 40 available spots. Final participants were selected through a two-stage screening process, demonstrating the high level of interest and enthusiasm from students right from the recruitment phase.

The tour of the completed project was divided into two parts. Part 1 consisted of a guided tour and a Q&A session led by Dongkwan Kim of Design SL, who served as the docent and was in charge of the project. Part 2 featured group workshops where participants presented their thoughts on architecture based on keywords such as “sustainable architecture,” “design process,” “construction management (CM),” and “landscape spaces.”

<Site Tour> is scheduled to take place again in the second half of the year, featuring another recently completed project by JUNGLIM Architecture. We hope this event will broaden the horizons of students aspiring to become architects and serve as a foundation for the development of architectural culture through such diverse initiatives in the future. We ask for your continued support and interest.
