Designed according to the campus master plan, the Administration Building of Seoul National University is characterized by a shadow effect created by the vertical louvers which repeatedly pass through the long, orizontal beams which spread across the façade. The building is positioned on an axis that connects the plaza in front of the Building and the Central Library located behind it. The central part of the building connecting this axis is linked to an outdoor space by pilotis on the lower level, creating a fluid movement of people. The shadow effect created by the façade design, a result of the building’s response to the geographical conditions of the Seoul National University campus, makes the exterior of the building look soft instead.
