Located in the city center of Geoje Island, the project started in an effort to cope with population growth and the resulting increase in demand for education in the wake of rapid growth of Geoje City both in terms of quality and quantity. With the design proposal, Junglim Architecture aimed to design a space that would nudge building users to generate daily records by creating a space that mingles with the context of the island’s nature harmoniously. As such, the proposed design would create an education environment that fosters harmonious and creative interaction between nature and humans, teachers and students, and among students. And to effectively cope with the newly installed classroom system dedicated to each subject, expansion of the proactive education system was also a key consideration of the new design in which students look for classrooms for each subject just as college students would. Accordingly, a locker room interconnects entire school buildings like a home base, or spine, while courtyards planned between buildings separate areas for general courses and special courses.
