Wirye New City was created as a state-of-the-art eco-city, a city with a rich history and culture, and a city that promotes harmony and coexistence. The project site?the C1-3 block? is located in the heart of the city and was the first block to be parceled out among the four transit malls that comprise the core commercial district of the city. The proposal aimed to revitalize the local community by taking advantage of the site’s location (which connects the residential areas with the main commercial area), and providing an optimal environment for residents. The convenience facilities in the neighbourhood were devised as street, terrace or independent type, depending on the characteristics of the space. Sunken plazas and roof top gardens are some examples of places where residents can gather and relax. Traffic and pedestrian circulation was planned separately for the residential and commercial areas. Protruding balconies are one of the characteristics of the building, which offer a pleasant ambience as well as a space to enjoy the city.
