A new city was created. Buildings establish their own symbolism in their own expression, form or size, and become the joints linking urban landscapes. In the spring of 2011 when JUNGLIM Architecture attended the competition for the Pangyo hotel, it was the time when the new city was beginning to grow in earnest, with many urban facilities competitively appearing, and it was establishing the characteristics of a place that was differentiated from the other cities and regions. Only 3 years later, however, Pangyo is rapidly changing into just one of many unremarkable cities. In the lower section of the surrounding area, commercial facilities are situated along the street. In the upper section, ordinary business facilities, standing upright expressionlessly, are packed in the same conditions and constraints. At the tip of this flow, the hotel is located at the joint between the river and the green axis, and so the building still has the potential to draw in other attitudes and environments despite having the same legal and institutional limits.
