After moving through Bukchang-dong, the firm has quietly maintained its presence for 45 years at the Ewha intersection in Yeongeun-dong since 1975, where it has been known as the “Lighthouse of Daehak-ro” with its lights never going out. In June 2019, at the age of 52, JUNGLIM Architecture relocated its headquarters to Taepyeong-ro.

The new workspace aimed to go beyond simply improving the old environment; it sought to create a way of working that would allow the firm to actively respond to a rapidly changing future while building on the successful growth of the past half-century. The goal was to realize a happy workplace where autonomous immersion and creativity flourish, while simultaneously embedding the firm’s unique core values—which must be upheld in the future—into the organizational culture. Since we were designing our own workspace, the process of communicating with ourselves and co-creating it was just as important as the final result. To this end, we established a New Workplace Design Task Force (TFT) to build a close collaborative system with the planning, strategy, and operations teams from the outset, and we oversaw the overall planning and supervision of the space, including architecture, interior design, furniture, signage, visual curation, and amenities.

The new workspace inherits JUNGLIM DNA of organizational design and integrates the four divisions onto a single floor to maximize communication and collaboration across specialties. Spaces were arranged to strike a balance between concentration and collaboration without interference. We defined over 1,300 specific activities for each job role and meticulously planned furniture and fixtures to align with working styles and behaviors. As an architectural firm, the design ensures a harmonious blend of analog and digital workflows while remaining adaptable to future technological advancements, such as remote work and flexible seating arrangements. Jeonglim’s legacy and corporate philosophy have been curated and woven into every corner of the space, and employee health and well-being have naturally been enhanced as well. JUNGLIM Architecture New Workplace is not a finished project; rather, it will serve as the foundation for the future that we ourselves must build upon from this point forward. We hope it will be filled with the traces of countless reflections on healthy architecture.

JUNGLIM Architecture began in 1967 as a small studio in a single-story Japanese-style house near the entrance to Eulji-ro.
