Since 2010, amidst skyscrapers like IFC Mall and Park One, Shinhan Securities Tower has maintained a unique presence with a distinguished architectural presence. The site overlooks Yeouido Park and fronts Yeouidaero Thoroughfare, and is within a 5-minute walk from Yeouido Station, providing excellent infrastructure for office facilities. To emphasize the building\u2019s symbolic significance and its advantages as a landmark that has maintained unique value and historicity amidst a changing environment, the design seeks to create a new sense of place by leveraging the tension arising from the stark contrast between the preserved original structure and the vertical extension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The building is divided into four parts: the lower levels called the&nbsp;<em>moat<\/em>, the lobby the&nbsp;<em>podium<\/em>, the original circular building the&nbsp;<em>castle<\/em>, and the vertical addition the&nbsp;<em>watchtower<\/em>. These embody spaces symbolic of both preservation and extension. The&nbsp;<em>moat<\/em>&nbsp;features a multi-level promenade and an underground-connected linear landscape vitalizing the commercial street at the lower level. The&nbsp;<em>podium<\/em>&nbsp;design enhances the lobby and amenities to ensure openness, increasing accessibility and visibility, and improving user experience through green walkways and a redesigned entry sequence. The&nbsp;<em>castle<\/em>&nbsp;design maximizes exclusive floor area \u2014 which determines the value of typical office floors \u2014 without adding cores, while considering views to Yeouido Park.
