Its purpose is to comprehensively improve and develop commerce and industry, while promoting balanced growth of the national economy and local communities. With chambers\u00a0established\u00a0in over 150 countries and 65 major cities nationwide, it required a place to lead the industry into the advanced business era of the 21st century.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Around the site was the historic\u00a0Sungnyemun\u00a0Gate, Korea\u2019s National Treasure No. 1, as well as several zones planned for redevelopment. The design was planned to harmonize with this cultural asset, coexist with new buildings to be constructed nearby, and\u00a0maintain\u00a0its unique identity as the representative chamber of commerce and industry for Korea\u2019s economy. The spatial arrangement follows the axis of\u00a0Sungnyemun\u00a0Gate and the main circulation path, placing large and small rooms on the lower floors that can hold meetings or conferences according to size and capacity, and arranging office spaces on the upper floors. The side facing the city incorporates multi-level landscaping plans to provide an open and inviting space for citizens.
