The SK Broadband IDC Gasan was established in response to the rapidly-growing demand in the domestic cloud market, following its previous data centers in Seocho, Ilsan, and Bundang. Unlike most domestic data centers used exclusively by the owning company, the Gasan data center primarily serves as a leasing facility aimed at attracting global operators.
The design includes ample dock space capable of accommodating large vehicles such as container trailers. The first and second floors house support facilities such as meeting rooms and lounges, while server rooms occupy floors three through ten. The center has a total power capacity of 80MW, IT load of 46MW, and approximately 8,000 server racks. It is certified as a Tier III data center and features seismic design to withstand earthquakes up to magnitude 7.0, ensuring stable data preservation. The façade design features thin, layered elements emphasizing verticality and segmentation, which reduces the visual bulkiness typically associated with large data center structures.
